When I think of autumn, I think of the colours; red, brown and gold. It is my favourite season in crafting terms, so I decided to make an autumnal tag using Distress Paints and inks and some Stickles to bring some sparkle.
I started by making my background. I chose some lovely warm autumnal coloured paints (Carved Pumpkin and Peeled Paint are great for this!), and used the marbling technique to put the colour down on the tag. Some ink and stencils add detail, as do background stamps, of course.
For the focal point, I cut a bird from brown cardstock using the Bigz Die, although flowers and foliage would work really well as well, I think. Some red ink on its tummy and some gold stickles for sparkle make him really stand out.
I cut out a branch freehand – but you can of course use a foliage die instead, or even the gorgeous Tando creative chipboard leaves! – and I layered them onto a strip of Hessian ribbon. Neutral and natural materials really work well with the autumn theme, don’t you think?
And there’s my autumn tag. I just love the warm colours and natural feel of it, and I hope you like it too.
